Single A Splitters Get A New Uniform

The Yonkers Railsplitters Single A team of the New York City Metro Baseball League, recently unveiled their new uniform at Governors Field. The design reflects the team’s current color scheme and long history, which dates back to the New York Rip Tide.

The retro 70’s styled multi colored jersey with “Yonkers” lettering across the front in Vegas Gold was designed by team Manager Christen Colon with finishing accents done by team General Manager Jonathan Zeron. The new uniform will be worn during home games starting in the 2018 season as an alternate to the Vegas Gold “Y” jerseys the team normally wears.

“I was looking for something different, retro with a modern touch” said Colon who supervised the jersey design. “He had a design right from the beginning and in the end it wound up having a historical reference to it” said Zeron.

The Cap – Yankee Navy Blue with a Vegas Gold “Y” and gold accents remains the same but is now exclusively for the Single A team. The “Y” hat was previously worn by the Double A Railsplitters as part of the Michael Nolan commemorative jersey.

The Jersey – White top with Yankee Navy base has assents of Vegas Gold and Columbia Blue with trimming around the neck and sleeves and the train logo of the Railsplitters on the left arm. While not part of the Railsplitters official color scheme Columbia Blue was chosen coincidently as an offset color only to be realized by both Colon and Zeron that this was the color of the New York Rip Tide’s away jersey which is how the two originally met.

The new uniform is designed to respect baseballs past while honoring its future and players are thrilled with how the uniform turned out.
