Streak Ends But Splitters Still In 1st

In the span of 24 hours, the Yonkers RailSplitters played 24 innings of baseball and won two out of three games extending their undefeated streak to 8 games before succumbing to the Bronx Pirates. Not a bad weekend for one of the hottest teams in the New York City Metro Baseball League.

The RailSplitters completed their doubleheader with the Bronx Mariners by winning both games on Saturday night at Randall’s Island. The Splitters took game one by a score of 4-3 in walk off fashion and finished the doubleheader by winning handedly 10-2; keeping their streak alive.

However, the baseball gods giveth and they taketh as the undefeated streak would come to an end at the hands of the Bronx Pirates the following day at Kennedy Field 17-2. “While losing is never something I am ok with I’m keenly aware of the difficulty of a 3-game weekend. I’ll take 2 out of 3 and the lessons learned to be prepared for August” said team manager Christen Colon.

The Railsplitters remain in first trailed by the NY Twins 1 game.
